Maite Garolera

Maite Garolera is the Director of the Clinical Research of Brain and Cognition Unit in Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa (Barcelona-Spain).

Her research interests are in healthy aging and in the late life neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders particularly Mild Cognitive Impairment. Her research has been devoted to the evaluation of cognitive processing (such as attention, emotional processing and memory consolidation). Presently her active areas of research use neuropsychology, neuroimaging and genetics to study the underlying biological mechanism of cognitive effects of cerebrovascular risk factors, and the relationship between cognitive functioning, behavioral control, and reward systems. Dr. Garolera is interested in clinical trials of computer-based cognitive intervention to prevent dementia or slow its progression.

She is also involved in studying the efficacy of cognitive remediation for people with neuropsychiatric diseases and in memory training for improvement of cognitive functioning in normal aging. Her clinical and research expertise focuses in enquires and interviews with elderly people in order to understand their need and in the maintenance of physical, social and cognitive activity. Her clinical experience extends to clinical psychology and neuropsychology and involves both (neuropsychological) diagnostic mainly in early diagnosis work and treatment (cognitive rehabilitation: remediation and compensatory approaches) especially to improve cognitive domains such memory and executive function.

María Quintana

Neuropsychological PhD degree in 2010. Master in ClinicalNeuropsychology in 2006. Expertise in Neuropsychology recognized by the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia in 2008 (professional certificate). In 2004 starts working in University of Salamanca as Neuropsychologist in there research project “Cognitive reserve in different diseases with Central Nervous System impairment, involvement and relationship to quality of life”. From 2006-2011, she has developed her career as a Neuropsychologist in IMIM-Hospital del Mar, combining clinical neuropsychologist, research, management and teaching. In 2011 moves to Hospital Clinic de Barcelona, as Researcher and Clinical Neuropsychologist in Unit Parkinson and Movement Disorders. Participation in the international multicenter project ASymtoms & Side Effects LRRK2 mutation carriers and Assessment of factors influencing LRRK2-related PD expression, study funded by Michael J Fox Foundation. She held the position of Project Manager in multicenter and national projects, as Neuronorma Project. She has worked as Clinical Trial Coordinator (Phase I-IV) during 6 years in IMIM-Hospital del Mar and Hospital de la Santa Creu i Sant Pau.

She is author of several papers in national and international journals and conference contributions. Main focus research: standardization and validation of neuropsychological test, artificial neural networks, early detection of Alzheimer’s Disease and mild cognitive impairment prevention. On the other hand, she holds the position of professor at Euncet Business School and at Universidad Autónoma de Barcelona in the Master of Neuropsychology and Behavioral Neurology at the.

Also, she has accredited as assistant professor by ANECA. She is member of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN) and Catalan Society of Neuropsychology (SCNPS).

Olga Gelonch

Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from 1994, Master in Psychology & Aging in 1997, Master in Clinical Neuropsychology in 2000, Diploma of Advanced Studies (Doctoral Studies) in 2010 and Doctoral student in 2013-2015. She is currently preparing her doctoral thesis entitled "Attention and Executive Functions in people with fibromyalgia".

Expertise in Neuropsychology recognized by the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia (professional certificate). In 2000 starts working in AVAN (association for neurological disorders), where develops tasks as a neuropsychologist and as technical coordinator, where were originate several programs for people with Mild Cognitive Impairment, dementia, Parkinson Disease and Multiple Sclerosis.

Also in 2000 she starts working in Neurology Service of Hospital Mutua de Terrassa, conducting neuropsychological assessments and treatment programs for its patients. In 2007, she starts working in ASPID, an institution for people with physical disabilities, as a neuropsychologist in the unit of neurological rehabilitation, and as a technical director in the daycare center, both specialized in the care of brain injury people. She has also developed several teaching activities, namely she has been teacher in the Master in Clinical Neuropsychology and she has been tutor students in psychology and neuropsychology. She is member of the Spanish Society of Neurology, Spanish Society of Neurorehabilitation and Catalan Society of Neuropsychology. She has several publications on non-pharmacological treatment for people with neurological diseases.

Neus Cano

Graduated in Psychology 2014 by the Ramon Llull University of Barcelona. Master of Neuropsychology and Neurology of the Behavior of the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) between 2016 and 2018. He has performed the Practicalum del Grau in Psychology at the Unitat d'Aguts de l'Hospital de Sant Boi (2014).

She is currently Junior researcher at Clinical Research Group of Brain, Cognition and Behaivor in Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa, and she worked in ReMemory Project. Her areas of experience are neurodegenerative disorders and cognitive training.

Marta Vancells

M. Sc. Marta Vancells has a Bachelor degree in Psychology by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, with a Master in Diagnosis and Rehabilitation in Clinical Neuropsychology by Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona. Expertise in Neuropsychology recognized by the Official College of Psychology of Catalunya. She has a Human Nutrition and Dietetics degree, by Blanquerna, Universitat Ramon Llull.

She is currently Junior researcher at Clinical Research Group of Brain, Cognition and Behaivor in Consorci Sanitari de Terrassa, and she worked in ReMemory Project. Her areas of experience are neurodegenerative disorders and cognitive training.

Noemí Cerulla

Noemí Cerulla: Neuropsychological PhD degree in 2019, Bachelor’s (B.A) degree in Psychology from 1998, Master in Clinical Psychology in 2000 and Master in Clinical Neuropsychology in 2005. Expertise in Neuropsychology recognized by the Official College of Psychology of Catalonia (professional certificate). In 1998 starts working as a Psychologist in Neurology Service of Hospital Mutua de Terrassa (HMT) and in AVAN (association for neurological disorders). In 2004 start sworking in Consoci Sanitari de Terrassa (CST) where she develops her work as an expert in diagnostic and cognitive intervention in patients with cognitive impairment.

She is neuropsychologist of the Dementia Diagnostic Unity of the CST and the neuropsychologist of one of the Day Care Hospital of CST. In the Day Hospital she has been developing and involved in different studies focused in cognitive rehabilitation, computer therapy for cognitive impairment, physical activity in patients with dementia, prognostic factors of benefit in cognitive training, monitoring activity with a portable GPS in patients with Mild Cognitive Impairment (MCI), effects of cognitive stimulation in MCI and in mild dementia, differential effect on memory of cognitive stimulation and the study of underlying cognitive processes of emotional information. Also has developed other lines of research focusing in breast cancer and cognition.

Also does collaborative work with judicial services in Terrassa doing neuropsychological assessment, and also as a teacher in EUIT of Terrassa (Occupational Therapy School). She is member of the Spanish Society of Neurology (SEN), International Neuropsychology Society (INS) and CatalanSociety of Neuropsychology (SCNPS). She has participated in research projects funded by public administration in relation with the efficacy of the portable GPS in patients with a Mild Cognitive Impairment, and with the efficacy of different strategies of cognitive rehabilitation in the treatment of discapacity in Mild Cognitive Impairment. Ms.Cerulla is co-author of CI- Indexed publications.

Expertise in Neuropsychology recognized by the Official College of Psychology of Catalunya.
